i agree with doc and mary. if you can, you may want to spend 2 nights
at cottonwood. go to ribbon real early, then on to upper ribbon.
check out the ruins...

You'd better do this hike VERY early in AM...or at night;as Ken points out,July is very hot and that 6 or 7 mile stretch from BA
