When we were there this spring (May), we came across several trickles of water, but not much more than that. I would (and did) plan on carrying enough water...

Ken, the GSM Nat Park is the most visited park. I was surprised that it was not Grand Canyon or Yosemite. I guess it is the easier access to Great Smoky...

FYI....
I have a Golden Access permit which gets me 50% off (or more) a lot of
places in the federal system.
GC will not give 50 for backcountry permit...

My last trip, I found pools in November 2010 within a 10 minute walk up and
down stream at Slate.
