Great idea Mike. When we did that hike we camped on that point
overlooking the river and went through the Redwall early the next
morning when it was cool....

Yes, getting to Deer Creek in one day is very long and tiring.
I don't think there is any shade or overhangs at the overlook,
but there might be near...
