I use my 1# Western Mountaineering HighLite--they say it is good to 35 degrees. I have used it just below freezing (frost) and done OK in it with clothes on....

I've done several one day R2R2R hikes, but only in May-Nov. Is the North Kaibab passable with only poles and catrax in Jan/Feb? I don't mind a little snow...

Nothing like a cold brew after a long day in the canyon. A rock crib in the river cools the drinks down pretty quick. The empties hardly weigh anything...

I haven't hiked from Tapeats to Stone Creek since 1967, and there was no trail back then, but what we did after crossing Tapeats Creek was to go downstream...
