Although the tast can be offensive, it's hard to beat the
convenience of iodine pills (and the're light weight). I have used a
PUR filter also but pumping...

Picked up my expertise from the NPS at Grand Canyon. Their
recommendation for river people was 2 drops per quart of household
bleach if the water is clear...
