I'm curios to know if people have had a major problem in getting
permits. I know on the major trail, i.e. Kiabab and Bright Angel its
probably a problem...

As far as I'm concerned you get to keep your head John.
I like your guides idea. Actually it takes a lot more physical person
to do a backpack than a raft...
