That's what I do too. Small Ziploc (3x5" or so). Driver's license, VISA card, $100 cash, little 2x4" note-pad with a list of important phone numbers...

I agree with you completely about having a ziplock with credit card, ID, insurance card and some cash. I was helicoptered out from Shinumo Creek in October...
