I have seen alum used once before, but I've never used it myself. I think the dose was about 1 tablespoon per gallon. Shake vigorously and let settle. ...

Any thoughts on the best method to filter water in the Grand Canyon. I have used iodine because I have found most water filters to be very slow at best....
