Have you ever considered Marble Canyon? It's part of the Grand
Canyon and much more user friendly in the winter.

I don't think you'll have a good experience on the North Rim in
April. Unless you drive some long and difficult dirt roads you
won't even see the Canyon. ...

Over time I have left a lot of sweat, among other things, running
canyon trails. I usually run or walk at least one Double Crossing
(S. Kaibab --->N....
