channel around the dam"? He could be talking about the bypass tubes
which all dams...

Sediment drops out when the river meets the Lake. Unfortunately that's
a long way from the dam in the case of Lake Powell. The slurry tube
would have to be...

to 33% full to keep Lake Mead up high enough that the city of Las Vegas
