Took a look. Basecamp has improved but for my applications I see no reason to stop using Mapsource. Updates aren't important if the software is doing the job....

I use Mapsource from Garmin loaded on the GPSMAP60CSX I have.
I use Topo (multiple copies) on my PC to make routes and waypoints.
I also always bring a paper...
