I used the same method (two 2 liter soda bottles) until I began
carrying a water bladder/tube for easy drinking, but I still carry
one soda bottle as backup...

I used to use Nalgene bottles, but then I weighed one. They
are HEAVY. The Lexan ones weigh 6oz and the poly ones about 4oz.
Too much overhead ! Now I use...
